Exposed Aggregate Concreting
Exposed aggregate concrete is a decorative concrete where its thin top layer is removed to expose the concrete mix’s added aggregates. The aggregate can be gravel, broken glass, decorative stone, granite, limestone, or quartzite.
The concrete is made using a mix of cement, water, fine aggregate (i.e. sand), and coarse aggregate (i.e. gravel). In making exposed aggregates, once the mixture is settled in place, the topcoat is removed – exposing the added aggregates such as limestone or glass. By using this technique, a stylish look – with different sizes and colours – is created.
